The Attitude Era & the Ruthless Aggression Period

The Attitude Era was an amazing time for wrestling. It ushered in the rise of Stone Cold Steve Austin and Triple H, but it also saw a lot of bad behavior and injuries from wrestlers. One wrestler died in the ring, and many more were injured due to repeated head traumas, including a number of brain damage cases.

But it wasn’t always this way. In fact, a number of wrestling’s most iconic characters weren’t even stars when they started out.

A lot of wrestlers didn’t even speak on the TV, and they were often paired with a manager who would tell them what to say. That didn’t mean they didn’t have a strong character, it just meant that they weren’t always given the opportunity to build their own storylines.

In the past few years, that’s been changing. The roster is finally getting longer matches, a commitment to wrestling history and stories that play out over an entire show. Moreover, they’re finally starting to put their best in-ring talent on the main roster (see Mustafa Ali and Ricochet).

The Ciampa-Lashley United States Championship Match On Raw

This was a great match that really hit the mark. It gave Ciampa some of his biggest opportunities as an in-ring performer and showed off his real life connection to Harley Race — the first ever United States champion. We’re excited to see what happens next for the former NXT champion!
